Bold Adventurers

Elder Reed and Sister Vicki Fanning, LDS Senior Missionaries

August 30, 2015

Sunday

Today was a very busy day.  We got up at 5 am to get to Ward Council.  When we pulled into the parking lot, we realized that there was no Ward Council since it was the 5th Sunday.

We came back home.  Sister Fanning made a batch of aloha cookie dough.

We got to Sacrament Meeting about 10 minutes early.  We talked to several people before Church started.  Elder Fanning sat on the stand because he had to give a talk.  We got several complements on his talk on obedience.  In fact, the bishop liked his talk so well that he asked us if we would stay here if he bought us a house.  Sister Fanning was asked to say the closing prayer.  The first counselor in the bishopric keeps getting our names wrong and calls us Elder and Sister Flanning. The other speaker had an interesting topic.  She spoke on the spiritual and physical benefits of getting up early with lots of quotes from scriptures, prophets, and others.  It was really good.

Elder Fanning taught the gospel principles class on the Holy Ghost.  He discussed topics a little deeper than what was in the manual due to the students in the class.  Sister Fanning went home to get something for her headache.

Sister Fanning got back in time for the third hour.  We had a discussion on technology that will help us to magnify our callings. The bishop and one of his counselors are both heavily into technology.  They showed everyone how to use LDS Tools, the Gospel Library, and all of the resources on lds.org.

After the block, Elder Fanning was asked by Abraham to ordain him to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood.  He is one of the sailors on the base who was baptized a couple of weeks ago.

Sister Fanning felt impressed to compliment one of the military wives.  She had four children under seven.  The three girls are always dressed up with their hair done very cute.  They are always early to church.  Her husband was just called to be the second counselor in the bishopric, so she sits alone with her kids.  She does such a good job.  When Sister Fanning told her that, she said that she was having a hard time with her kids today.  She really needed that compliment.

We brought Tiffany home with us after church.  Sister Fanning made rosemary roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots and French rolls.  After dinner, she baked five dozen aloha cookies.

Tiffany wanted a blessing, so Elder Fanning gave her one.  She said later that she had several question in her mind that she had not shared.  He answered them in the blessing.   She knew it was from God.  We also played a wild game of And It Came to Pass.

We left at 5:30 for the Hanford addiction recovery meeting.  We had five people there.  We had a good meeting filled with the Spirit.  We stayed afterwards to talk to a couple of the attendees.  Tad told Sister Fanning that what they talked about after the meeting was just what he needed.  Elder Fanning gave one of the sisters attending a blessing.

We dropped Tiffany back at home on the base.

We got home about 8:00.
