Elder Reed and Sister Vicki Fanning, LDS Senior Missionaries

October 23, 2015

Friday

This morning Sister Fanning made an appointment at the base hospital.  She went to see Lieutenant Commander Skinner. He is a member of the Church, but does not want any contact.  They did a strep test that came out negative. She has a very nasty virus.  She was ordered to go home and rest, and not do any missionary work.

We stopped by the commissary on the way home to get a few groceries.

We stayed home from the senior missionary dinner at President Clark’s home.  We were not happy that we had to stay home.  We missed a good time.

Today Elder Fanning heard back from Brian, the man who he has been texting from Bakersfield.  It was the text conversation that started several months ago as a wrong number.  He told us that he had been in a very intensive drug treatment program and he is finally free from his meth and heroin addictions.  He got rid of his old phone number because he does not want his old crew to contact him.  He did keep Elder Fanning’s phone number.  He has been studying about the Church online in his down time.  One of his comments was that he was amazed that the atonement would allow someone who had done as much wrong as he had to be forgiven.  He had some questions about the Church.  We will have to go meet him in Bakersfield.  He is clean and applying for a job tomorrow.  The Lord prepares people and no one is too far gone for the atonement to work on them.
