Bold Adventurers

Elder Reed and Sister Vicki Fanning, LDS Senior Missionaries

December 30, 2015

Wednesday

This morning we got up early so we could take the car to Selma for the 60,000 mile service.  We have had the car for 2 ½ years.  This mission has really put the miles on.  We were able to get a loaner car since they said it would take several hours.

We decided to do surprise inspections of the missionary apartments in Selma and Reedley.  We went to the two Selma apartments first.  The missionaries did really well.  We have not had very good reports from inspections of the Selma and Reedley apartments in the past, but these two were clean and neat.  They were very happy to receive loaves of pumpkin bread.

We went to Reedley to visit the two companionships of elders there.  One was home, but the other was with the Zone Leaders on exchanges.  We had a problem with the fridge not being very clean, so they did not get a perfect inspection.  We decided to drive back to Lemoore – a 50 minute drive.

We just got back home and found out that our car was done.  We contacted the elders that we missed and they said they would be home about the time we got there.  We left immediately to drive back to Reedley and Selma.  We got to the elders’ apartment, and they were not there yet.  We called them and they told us they would be there in 20 minutes.  An hour later, they finally arrived. They had a good inspection and got a loaf of bread.

We drove back to Selma to turn the car in and pick up ours.  By that time it was 2:30, so we stopped at our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Selma, Sal’s.

We got home at 4:00.  Elder Fanning made contact with the chaplain of the King’s County Jail. We arranged to take some Books of Mormon to the jail tomorrow.  There is an inmate who wants one, and they were out.  Sister Fanning started the process of making four loaves of pumpkin bread for more apartment inspections.

We had Missionary Correlation Meeting tonight.  The new elders’ quorum president was there, but no other auxiliaries were there. We had a good meeting talking about the investigators and recent contacts.

After the meeting, Cade, our active single sailor and Assistant Ward Mission Leader, came over to have ice cream and watch the Battle of the Five Armies.

We got to bed late.
