Sister Fanning woke up at 3:00 and could not get back to sleep. It seems really strange, but when Sister Fanning gets less sleep, she feels better during the day. She felt quite well this morning.
We picked up Sister Brown to go to Hanford. Elder Brown was not able to get out of his commitment at the prison. We stopped to pick up some things at Staples.
We got to the chapel in time for the beginning of the Worldwide Missionary Broadcast at 9:00. The theme for the broadcast was Teach Repentance and Baptize Converts. There were six Apostles, the Senior President of the Seventy, General Young Women’s President, Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric, and a couple of other Seventies at the Conference Center for the broadcast. The consensus was that people are being baptized without really understanding how to repent, and that is why we are losing recent converts. There was really great teaching and training from several of the leaders.
After the broadcast, we met with a couple who are taking over our Spouse and Family Support Group and Hanford Addiction Recovery Group for a couple of weeks. We turned over some materials to them and explained the process.
We dropped Sister Brown back at home and then came back home for lunch. Sister Fanning made skillet glazed pork chops and salad for lunch. She also made some aloha cookie dough.
We had a chiropractic appointment this afternoon. Both adjustments went well. We came back home and did some things around the house.
We stopped to see Penny. She was not sure she would answer the door. Her husband left the day before for deployment for eight months. She had two little ones and a new baby. Her house was a mess. She decided that since we had driven to see her and she liked us, that she would let us in. We told her we came to see her, not the house. We had a really nice visit. Her little boy, almost two, brought Sister Fanning his glass and some strawberry syrup and wanted her to make him strawberry milk. He was very insistent that she help him. We offered to get someone in to help her get her house in order, but she did not want to receive the help.
We had Missionary Correlation Meeting tonight. We had a good meeting with both elders and sisters. We discussed all of their investigators and recent converts. We went to the base right after the meeting for Sister Fanning to go visiting teaching. Sister Fanning picked up Candy and left Elder Fanning to watch Candy’s three kids. Candy’s husband also left for an 8-month deployment yesterday. We visited Libby. She was dealing with a toilet that overflowed when we arrived. The conversation was about boys and toilet habits for quite a while. We talked about the Proclamation on the Family.
Sister Fanning dropped Candy off and picked up Elder Fanning. We picked up Strom so he could help Elder Fanning give Coral a blessing. We gave her a beautiful blessing to help her with her cancer diagnosis. We found out that her general practice doctor is on top of the tests and appointments. She is taking over from the pulmonologist, whose staff is overly busy. We felt a lot better about that. It took eight months to get an appointment with the pulmonologist.
We got home about 9:45.
