This morning Sister Fanning went to the baby shower early to watch the children of the sisters who were hosting the shower. She held Cassidy, dressed Austin and Cassidy, brushed the hair of the three little girls whose mother was the hostess, and helped prepare the food. The shower was for two of the sisters in the ward. One of them is military. One of them is civilian and attends family home evening regularly, so we got to know her family very well. There were 10 sisters attending. We had Belgian waffles, fruit, bacon, and muffins. We had a nice time, and the sisters got some lovely presents.
Sister Fanning brought some leftover waffles home for lunch. The hostesses also gave her a vase of fresh flowers. Elder Fanning spent lots of time this morning doing things around the house.
We went to the base to give an investigator a blessing. Her husband is deployed for eight months. She had two little ones – a boy and a girl. She is a friend of a military couple in the Ward and has been receiving the missionary lessons. She had her home blessed and then received a blessing of comfort and strength from Elder Fanning. She is having a really hard time giving up coffee. She wants to be baptized and has been attending all of the meetings and activities including family home evening.
We spent the rest of the day preparing our Institute lesson, relaxing, and resting. Sister Fanning also worked on our income taxes a bit. We have discovered why most missionary couples serve 18 months. We are really tired.
