Elder Reed and Sister Vicki Fanning, LDS Senior Missionaries

May 20, 2016

Friday

Today we had Zone Conference starting at 9:00 in Hanford.  We were able to shake hands with the visiting General Authority, Elder Craig A. Cardon of the Seventy.  He asked us to tell him our names, hometown, and how long we have served.  When he found out that we had served for 23 months and 2 weeks, he said we were almost illegal.  Because of tax implications, senior couples have to serve outside their home state for less than 24 months. When he found out we were going home in a week, he was okay with that.

We got some good council from President and Sister Clark and Elder and Sister Cardon.

President Clark:  Satan is very good at getting us to be “Chill.” Being “chill” puts us on a smooth, gentle, declining road to the telestial kingdom.

Sister Clark gave us a spiritual cardiogram – very interesting.

Sister Cardon:  We need to lift our companions and help them reach their potential – valid for missionary companions and marriage companions.

Elder Cardon:  Trust God.  This is His Kingdom.  Stay close to Him. Exercise faith. Pray. Read the scriptures. There is no secret and no shortcut.

We had lunch about noon – chicken burritos and ice cream bars.  We delivered our testimonies along with the other departing missionaries, and we finished about 3:10 and got home about 3:45.

We relaxed for about 2 hours.  We had dinner with the Bishop’s family.  Their four little girls are so cute.  Their 9-year-old cries whenever she thinks about us leaving.  We had sticky chicken, cauliflower rice, watermelon, and ice cream bars.  We played Hedbanz afterwards and had a good time.  We had a wonderful time visiting with this good family.

We got home about 9:30.

Bridal Veil Falls.  There is more water going over the falls in Yosemite than there has been in years because of the drought.

There was a rental RV that had Yosemite painted on the pack at Yosemite.  The real view was better than the painting.
