Bold Adventurers

Elder Reed and Sister Vicki Fanning, LDS Senior Missionaries

July 24, 2017

Breakfast was very expensive at the hotel, so we decided to check out and get some breakfast on the road.  We were on the belt route so there were no restaurants listed on freeway signs.  We stopped at the last exit before we left Vegas and found a Jack in the Box.  Unfortunately, parking was miserable and the truck was not well accommodated.

We decided to drive to the Mission Office and have Will drive to the apartment.  We stopped at the office to pick up the keys.  Sister Fanning was not shaking hands or hugging because she was sick.

We met Will at the apartment. We had two elders show up as soon as we arrived.  They helped to carry things in until they had to leave for an appointment.  Sister Fanning could not do any more than sit in a chair and direct traffic. Shortly after the elders left, two more elders showed up to finish unloading the truck.  We realized we had no shower curtains, bedding, or towels unpacked.  It was 6:00 pm, and Sister Fanning was exhausted and sick.  We decided to take the rental truck back and check into a hotel for the night.

We arrived at the hotel right across the street from the beach.  We opened the windows and felt the sea breeze blow into the room. It was cheaper to get a two bedroom hotel suite, so we were able to relax and visit in the living room. We had a pizza and Italian food delivered.  The delivery driver gave Will’s dinner to someone else.  We called and they redid the meal and expedited it.  The first delivery took 1 ½ hours.  The second delivery took less than half an hour.  It was after 9:00 pm before dinner was finished.

The bed sure looked good for all of us tonight.
